I was thinking of the Hitmen days. At least you were all paying attention enough to attack me mercilessly. Was the title of the post, Clobberin' Time, enough of a clue?

Sox have taken the season series against both Houston and the Yankees.

Come draft time we'll be grateful for those two weeks after the ASG and rue nights like this one.

Good day for the Sox top catching options. McCann 2 for 5 with a Slam and (at AAA) Collins with 2 HRs and 6 RBI.

Great to see McCann rebound in August after his numbers cratered in July. Not that I expected him to keep up his 1st half pace, but his offense was in total freefall in July: .173/.212/.309. So far in the first 2 weeks of August: .359/.419/.513.

Excellent point. I love how that works sometimes (when it's in our favor, that is).

Yes. Sooner or later, we need actual results as opposed to high draft picks.

Not if it means you found a legitimate big-league catcher.

Yea, wins are good. Especially when you're getting key contributions from guys like Jimenez.

He looks like he's really settling in offensively again. Nice to see the doubles. If he can show the gap power in addition to the HR power we know he has, he can become the complete hitter he's shown himself capable of being.

I figured he was about to heat up again when he started taking walks and driving the ball the other way.

And games/series like these are great, 8-6 vs. the Yankees and Astros this year for example. But then they look awful in so many others (losing 4 straight to KC for example) and it's like what's the real White Sox here?

Are they getting there with flashes of brilliance or are the "big" teams just overlooking them and not getting up for the games?

Eloy's timing is starting to look like it did before the injury which is good to see. The experience he is getting this year is going to help him become even more of an offensive monster next year. They just need to work with him on that defense passable. He has some of the easiest power I've ever seen. The swing looks so effortless and yet the ball goes 450 feet.

Well during the KC series they were also missing Eloy and Anderson. So that is not the "real White Sox" from the perspective of the players we want on the field. Heck they just took 2/3 from the best team in baseball without the best hitter on the team this year.

That's in part because the players they have called up are out performing the slugs they replaced at least marginally and partially because of the great performances they are getting from their starting pitching which is significantly improved from the first half

Right now the Sox would pick 9th. As long as they're in the top 10, they should have a shot at a decent pick.

Yeah, I totally understand the concern about missing out on a top prospect because of a few pointless wins (Fulmer instead of Benintendi, Burger instead of Adell). But, wins can also be a big boost for a team that has bottomed out and is looking to contend in the near future. I can't complain about taking 2 of 3 from the Astros in a game where McCann and Jimenez murder the baseball.
