Social media going crazy over Anthony Rizzo pitching tonight. Because it's Anthony Rizzo. And it's the Cubs.

I cannot remember this many position players pitching like ever in one season and we’re nowhere near done yet.

Maddon is a clown manager. He thinks his "quirky unorthodox" schtick is cute, and Cub fans eat it right up. They lead the NL in runs scored and he's throwing in the towel with only a six-run deficit. This is the same team that had a 9-run 8th inning THIS SEASON to come back and win a game. Just a complete ****ing clown of a manager.

If this were the '06 Sox in July, a top 3 AL offense, down by only 6 runs, and Ozzie had put Konerko in to pitch in order to save, say, Boone Logan's arm, Sox fans would have asked for Guillen's head on a pike. Cub fans are complete idiots.

The Flubs are apparently the top potential landing spot for Cole Hamels. Guess they figured they should shore up an actual problem (back of the rotation) after striking out on Familia and Britton.

Rick Morrissey at the Sun-Times today has a column calling him out for his antics. Says they are "all about him..."

The shine seems to be wearing off.

Among Morrissey, maybe. But as long as things like today keep happening (Bote two-run homer, followed by a Rizzo walk-off bomb), the fans will continue to eat it all up.

I was just going to say, Bryant goes on the DL again, Cubs bring up some guy nobody ever heard of and he produces. Typical.

Hamels is a class guy through and through. Too bad he's on the Cubs.

Realistically I think the only team that can stop them in the N.L. are the Dodgers. Nobody else really stands out to me.

At least in the A.L. you've got three super teams in Boston, the Yankees and Houston.

Team option: $20 million to stay, $6 million to leave.

Honestly, with that high of a buyout, paying the remaining $14 million doesn’t look as bad by comparison. That is right around fair market value for a 2-WAR season.

Coincidentally, James Shields has the exact same $14 million difference between his option and his buyout, although the $2 million buyout on Shields is much more palatable.

It sure looks like the Sox will come out ahead in this Quintana deal. Yikes!

One bad start out of an otherwise okay year. He started slow and got better before today. His ERA+ for both teams has been 115.

It's still far too early to say who won this trade. We won't know for another 2-3 years IMO.
