Not just that but looks like they are going to have above average power at 2B, SS and CF so they can probably eat a few homers at third and be fine.

Exactly. Why there's so often an insistence on a certain position hitting a certain way I've never been able to fathom. As long as your team has some degree of balance between batting average, speed, power etc., I think you're in good shape. Yolmer is bringing plenty to the table right now. If you flipped him and Moncada between 2B and 3B, would we think differently?

For a second I thought you were talking about Engel in CF and I thought "Why do you think he'd give you above average anything?" Is Robert projected to have above average power?

Yeah, but this is an extremely antiquated view of baseball now. As much as this was true at one point, now you've got shortstops hitting 40 HRs. Yolmer fits on any winning team.

So far in 2018, 3B is the top position for OPS, to the tune of .786 for a league-wide split. Yolmer is right there at that level, with an OPS of .791 on the season.

Will Yolmer stay at a near-.800 OPS? Doubtful.

Will the league-wide split for 3B OPS stay at a near-.800 level? Also doubtful.

Will Yolmer stay relatively close to league-average with his bat once those two numbers start to slide? I think so.

I don’t think he necessarily has to stay exclusively at 3B, either. I wouldn’t mind seeing him make 40-50 starts in the middle infield to cover for injuries and days of rest, and allow Moncada and Anderson to DH 2-3 times a month.

It won't take much and I admit I don't know, but I assume so. Most super talented 5-tool players have good power.

Well yeah, since power is one of those 5 tools.

MLB.com grades him at a 55 power (along with 65 speed).

I agree but in my mind as a utility guy playing twice a week or coming in as a late inning sub. I don't think he's got the capacity to play 145 games say and produce.

But we'll see if he's a flash like Avi Garcia or maybe has become a pretty good player. Time will tell.

We still don't know if Avi was a flash or for real. He had a bad start to the season but got injured after about 3 weeks so he might come back and go back to last year's form.

I admire your optimism with Avi. I think the odds are very long... as Kenny would say, "it is what it is..."
