I like the pick. We need a 3B. We need more power. Kid has 50 or higher grades across the board including fielding and running... which is particularly good for a big guy. I didn't think they would take him but he was among a handful of players that looked good to me in the reports.

There's a good looking college 1B (Brent Rooker) rated around where our second pick is too.

Wouldn't break my heart any.
John sickels has a 70 grade on the power for this kid:

MLB Radio just interviewed Burger ... he grew up a Sox fan and his favorite player was Paul Konerko.

So far so good!

Even better. On TV Hostetler is being interviewed by Stone and Bennetti and said he was a big Thome fan so they had Thome call him and he was thrilled.

Best power in the whole draft.

I love this pick. Kind of under the radar, but I really like this kid. I preferred JB as I said but you can't hate this pick.

The telecast put up a 70 power on him as well. I don't remember their reference for that.

I'm still not seeing the 70 grade. It's a real nice review and I like the pick but there are no grades there unless they are hidden somewhere on a different page.

Really, this **** still happens here?

After the Luis Robert signing we are still calling the Sox cheap?

Come one, that's really inappropriate.

Hope that getting a college hitter we get someone who can contribute a bit earlier.

There is no HS player out there leaving guaranteed first round money to go to college.

You are saying that about the current players left in this round? Or about any HS player any year? Because it definitely happens where they go to college and turns down guaranteed money.

I mean, the Burger pick is not some sort of revelation. But you sort of nod your head and say, "Yep, that works". Felt the same way about Collins last year.

Not many walk away from First Round money (usually in excess of $2 million).

I don't recall anyone doing it the past 2 seasons.

100% Agree.

It makes sense. They identified a need and went for it. I'm OK with that.
