Speaking of call-ups, Seattle called up Gordon Beckham and Miami called up Javy Guerra.

I always held out hope, too, but it got to the point in 1988 and 1989 (when I was ages 11-12-13) when it was pretty hopeless at the major league level.

I also remember reading "Baseball Digest" when I could get my hands on a copy and, while being sad that the Sox traded Baines, I was excited about the potential of Sosa and Alvarez, who were highly touted.

I was also excited about Frank Thomas while he was still in the minors, predicting to my 8th grade friends that "he'd make the HOF one day."

Maybe I'm the abnormal one, but Sox prospects have always interested/excited me.

Good luck to him. I wish him well except for when he's facing the Sox.

Too bad he was a huge flop with the Sox after being the #8 pick overall. At least the Sox were able to flip him for Tommy Kahnle (by way of Yency Almonte)....and then Kahnle was a key piece of the deal with the Yankees in July that brought back one of their top prospects (Blake Rutherford) to us. So, we'll see in a couple of years how that works out for us.

There was a report in the Tribune this morning suggesting that both Moncada and Delmonico are close to returning to the line-up. With Charlotte's season ending yesterday, I wouldn't be shocked to see another player or two brought up.

Sox reinstate Yoan Moncada from the DL. He's starting in tonight's game.

White Sox have purchased the contracts of Al Alberquerque and Chris Volstad and added them to the bullpen for the rest of the season. Ryan Cordell also added to the 40 man roster taking it to 40.

The September Call-up is coming FROM INSIDE THE HOUSE!

I don't understand why Jake Peter didn't get called up- he should be getting the playing time going to Saladino, a little late on pulling the trigger on a few more arms for the bullpen- you should never have to use a position player as a pitcher in September- not a big deal- but still a head scratcher.

Jake Peter is not a rostered player.

Default Call Ups

1) Interesting article in the new edition of the White Sox magazine. Nice article called Anatomy of the White Sox rebuild. Amongst other things Hahn said in the article, " None of our prospects will be rushed. We won't bring someone here that we don't think can compete". He goes on and on about how the team won't bring up anybody who is not ready.
2) Friends of mine were at the season ticket seminar with Hahn the other night and they said that Hahn said he had no intentions of having Mike Kopech on the 2018 White Sox team. He felt that Kopech is not ready for the bigs. Hahn also said under no circumstances will he promote any prospect who doesn't perform in the minors.
3) All that being said, I have one question. Why was Carson Fulmer promoted to the team recently? He hasn't been able to get anybody out on any level. I honestly feel that if he wasn't a #1 draft choice he might have been released by now. Other than the fact that Hahn has become the least successful GM in modern White Sox history, Hahn also talks out of both sides of his mouth. He claims he doesn't think Kopech is ready for MLB but he then promotes Fulmer. Fulmer who has a complete bust so far.Fulmer is pitching tomorrow. I'm glad I don't have tickets for the game.

This new is a stance on not promoting prospects until there is success shown in the minors. Fulmer has been up before. This is my personal opinion, but Fulmer was promoted to see what he can do. I believe this is his audition so to speak. How he performs may determine his future with the Sox, whether that be starter, bullpen or out the door.

Fulmer is auditioning for a job. I one hundred percent support the organization's move in bringing him up to the parent club to determine whether he sinks or swims.
