Josh Paul

Any predictions on the amount of playing time Manuel will give him now that Alomar is on the DL?

"Jerry loves my versatility... err... at least he used to!"

"I get no respect."

"A pinch-running catcher that can fill in at shortstop in a pinch!"

"Stop talkin' crazy!"

Good question George. This is a hard one to predict. Since Josh has been struggling at the plate with the Knights part of me would say he gets only pinching hitting for the pitcher duties. Though the other part of me thinks that a kid from the Chi-town burbs playing in the cross town series could provide an adrenaline boost to the team which would lead to a start behind the plate in at least one game.

Josh Paul plays his heart out and I admire that, to bad he struggles with his bat.

They may have to start him in an effort to trade him, otherwise they may have to try and get him to clear waivers when interleague play is over,as he is out of options.I don't think he would clear waivers though.

Daver-
What is up with the Sox and running out of options on our guys? Leifer is stuck because he is out - Crede has none - now Josh Paul - is there anyone else?

Also is there a website out there that lists this info?

Thanks!

Is Paul really our best minor league catcher? What about the guy we got for Bradford? Maybe we want to make sure he can play most days. Hopefully Paul will be doing bullpen duty but, unfortunately, he will have to play sometime.

Humberto Quintero is considered the best catcher prospect in the system. He was named to the Carolina All-Star team while playing with the Hogs - Yesterday when Paul was recalled by the Sox, Quintero was promoted to Charlotte to take Josh's place.

Miguel Olivio is the guy we got for Bradford,he is improving at a decent pace but is not ready for the big club by any stretch Tragg.

Olivio was reinstated from the DL effective 06/11/02. He is currently at AA Birmingham. I thought it was interesting that Quintero jumped from upper A ball to AAA. I think that if Olivio was not injured he would have gotten the call to Charlotee but Sox brass thinks alot of Quintero -

Olivio was left at Birmingham because he made the all star team for the first time at AA, If Paul clears waivers Quintero will go back to Winston-Salem.

Quintero made his debut tonight with the Knights - he went 3-4 and threw out three would be stealers.....

Then Mark Dellasandro may become jobless.

Thanx for the info I hadn't checked the Knights box score yet.

Daver - No problem!

LDF - Quintero is known as a "defensive" catcher. He batted .203 with the HOGS, so it was a suprise to see hit bat come alive tonight. Hopefully he continues to hit the ball well.
