If Owens (OF) and Valido (IF) pan out, the Sox could have some serious speed in the lineup after 2007.

Gun readings are overemphasized, but not remotely irrelevant. There's a big difference between a minor-leaguer who regularly throws 93 and one who tops out at 83, though they might both have a good ERA, etc. It's a huge part of the reason that Jenks is pitching in the majors right now while guys like Wasserman (2.14 ERA at B'ham) and Lubisich (3.00 ERA at B'ham) would be extremely fortunate to get a cup of coffee in the bigs.
