Hey quick question for any of you minor-leagueniks. I noticed a glut of errors from Fields the first couple of months of the season, but can't find any game-by-game stats to see if it were true that his mistakes had stappled off as the year went on. Can anyone pull up the stats to see if his errors during the first three months compared to the last half?

Fields made his 14th error on July 2nd.

Today, on Sept. 2nd, he has 24...

To be clear, though, he's a much better defensive player than his error numbers show. He has good instincts, just the experience level and consistency isn't there yet. Things you generally know will be issues for guys who are raw or have limited experience entering pro ball...

Yeah, he occasionally makes very good plays, and he definitely has the athleticism and arm to play the position. It's just a matter of reps and hard work. A certain other Sox 3B prospect from the same school struggled defensively in the minors and, through a lot of hard work, turned himself into a Gold Glover.
