In contrast with the Knights, the Barons’ roster is absolutely loaded with young players to watch . . .
Sweeney has his AVE up to .326 with a .402 OBP. Though he’s still not showing much power, he’s ridiculously young for his level.
Fields is struggling at the plate (.242 AVE, 46 Ks), but he already has 25 RBI.
Young started off cold but has been mashing the ball lately. He leads the team with 29 R, 16 2B, 8 HR, . . . and 46 Ks (tied with Fields).
Rogowski has been an all-around threat, hitting for AVE (.312), getting on base (.380), stealing bases (7), scoring runs (24), and knocking them in (22).
Owens has been doing his best Podsednik impersonation with a .323 AVE, .388 OBP, and 10 SB. While he’s shown little power, he’s been impressive for a guy who skipped a level.
Gonzalez has been getting on base at a respectable rate (.341), but isn't hitting for power and has struggled with errors at SS.
Stewart has been a big surprise behind the plate. Though he hasn’t hit much over his career, he’s posting a .306 AVE thus far. We’ll see how long he can keep this up.
As expected, Tracey is the staff ace. He’s 4-1 with a 3.22 ERA and .236 BAA. He’s still walking too many guys but has hit only 2 batters so far.
After struggling in AAA, Phillips has been outstanding in 2 starts for the Barons, posting a 0.77 ERA and .209 BAA.
Malone continues his latest come-back effort and has been pretty solid so far: 1-2, 4.33 ERA and 27 K in 27 IP.
Honel’s comeback effort has been much less successful than Malone’s. Honel is back on the DL and hasn’t pitched effectively in over a year.
The bullpen has been outstanding. Jenks has 9 saves and a 2.60 ERA. Setup men Reynoso (1.08 ERA) and Lamura (2.95 ERA) also have pitched well. Reynoso has been virtually unhittable (.148 BAA) but is still walking WAY too many guys.
