4/29 games

I'll start this thread even though only Charlotte's box has been posted.

Robert Person got the start for Charlotte, and lasted 3 2/3 innings, allowing 7 hits, 3 walks, 4 home runs, and 8 earned runs. About the only positive in this game is Anderson went 2-3 with a walk, scoring two.

Charlotte was hammered 16-3. As mentioned, Person was hit hard. Smith and Bajenaru were the only pitchers to fare well. The good news, Borchard GOT A HIT! Joe went 1-4 with a K, .160.

Birmingham was also pounded losing 14-5. Honel started but didn't get the loss. Glen (who?!) pitched the last inning and surrendered 7 runs on 8 hits.

Winston-Salem lost 8-2, Dizard (1-1, 2.92).
Collaro: 1-3. BB, K, .347.
Valido: 0-4, R, 8th SB, .314.
Amador: 0-3, .328.

Kannapolis won (Yay!) 6-2 behind Harrell (1-1, 2.75).
Boomer Berry: 1-3, 2B, R, 4 RBI, .246.

- Since some folks are tracking former Sox major-leaguers at Charlotte, I'll note that Norton and Burke had two hits apiece
- Owens and Young stay hot; Owens: 2-for-4 with a 2B, BB, SB, and 2 R; Young: 2-for-5 with a 2B, towering HR, and 3 RBI
- Gonzalez also reached twice for the Barons and knocked in a run; I'd love it if he can keep his AVE over .300, but he's got 8 errors already
- Reynoso continues to dominate in relief: 1.1 IP, 0 R, 2 K, 0.00 ERA
- Nanita was dropped down to 6th in the 'Hogs batting order and responded with a 2B and a BB
- In his 1st start, Dizard K'ed 6 in 3 IP, while Castro K'ed 4 in 2.2 innings of relief
- Ricks played 1B for Kanny and walked in all 4 plate appearances
- Hernandez drew the collar but gunned down a runner
- Harrell's impressive line: 7 IP, 0 R, 3 H, 3 BB, 5 K

[California Sox]

I know Reynoso throws relatively hard and has a pretty good slider, but I can't recall seeing him even in the spring. If anyone's seen him lately, I'd love a report on how he looks. Is he similar to, say, a Marte. Is he a possible callup if someone gets hurt this season?

Reynoso threw "A" games in Tucson this year and looked great. Hard fastball; good breaking pitch. Completely different delivery than Marte. He's a former position player who had some success as a starter in the past.

Still, there are a lot of pitchers between him a spot in the Sox pen.
