Default Wunsch?!?!

I would like to have the honor of creating the 100th thread in this forum. Therefore, I'm going to inquire about the status of Kelly Wunsch, since no one else seems to know. Is he hurt? Has he had a falling out with KW, Ozzie, or both? Does he suck worse than Cotts? If the answer to all of these questions is "no," then he should be pitching for the White Sox.

He is off the 40-man roster and pitching in Charlotte. He seems to be doing pretty well down there, but my understanding is his velocity is still way down and he can't go on back-to-back days.

There have been lots of innuendo and rumors about him being in KW's doghouse, but I am not sure if there is anything beyond performance that has him down in Charlotte.

As a general rule, teams don't take a player off their 40-man roster if they think he can still help them in the future. He is pretty much done with the Sox.

Nobody seems to know? All you have to do is find one of the 25 threads in the clubhouse asking why he's not in Chicago or proclaiming him to be an upgrade over anyone in our bullpen.

1) He cleared waivers, meaning nobody in the majors wanted him for a minimal waiver fee. A lefty bullpen specialist in the last 2 months of the season is passed on by every team, what does that tell you?

2) He isn't even hitting 85 consistently on the gun in Charlotte, has periodic control problems, and has to be shut-down after an outing or 2 to rest for a few days.

3) He's not in some mythical KW dog house. This game is about performance, and when your bullpen has as many ?-marks as ours does, if he was an upgrade over anyone, he'd be here. Rauch was in the KW doghouse for a couple years and had several opportunities (although not always ideal situations) to prove he belonged in the majors. The whole KW is holding a grudge or somebody is sending the Union a message stuff is idle/ignorant message board fodder.

There. It's said. Enough already.
