Default McGwire Wants Nothing to Do With Canseco

McGwire on Bash Brothers' Reconciliation: "It's too late."

I don't post anymore but thought I'd share this with the rest of you, as several parts of the article made me laugh. I've included selected quotes below.

Canseco was wrong to write a book about what happened, but McGwire later admitted to doing many of the things Jose accused him of. I'd be interested to know what McGwire is angry about--or if he's really more angry with himself for lying to the media and crying in front of Congress than he is with Canseco for outing him in the first place.

Uh, Mark? It's "I couldn't care less."

Hope everyone here is well. I still lurk quietly so I can read the Parking Lot and Roadhouse posts, so don't be surprised to see my name pop up on the active users list from time to time.

I read Canseco's book and what can I say?...everything that he wrote turned out to be true.

What bothers McGuire is that Canseco violated an unwritten baseball rule by talking about the past and that's something that bothers McGuire and not the actual steroid use.

Anytime I see McGuire talking to a hitter, I image every conversation being something like "Coach, I'm just not getting enough zip on my liners?"...."No problem, I know a pharmacy in Mexico that can fix that".

He cared enough to talk about him at all, so he could care less from that point. So he was right.

**** Mac tho, he did the crime, so he should do the time... dealing with its consequences, that is. He's lucky he's still in baseball and got another ring with STL. I don't respect that roidhead.

I'll never forget how the news media treated Sosa and McGwire in there march on Roger Maris home run record. Sosa was a skinny kid when he was with the White Sox and a few years later he was as big as King Kong. It didn't take a medical genius to see that these guys were on the juice. The media treated these guys as if they were gods. What always troubled me about the whole situation was how shabbily the media treated Roger Maris in 1961. They thought it was wrong for Maris to break Babe Ruths home run record. They succeeded in turning Maris into some sort of a villain. When Maris hit his 61st home run on the last day of the season in 1961, there were only 22,000 people at Yankee Stadium to see the record broken.I'm just hoping that McGwire and Sosa don't get into the MLB Hall Of Fame in the future.
