Bob Nightengale ‏@BNightengale 4m

How classy is Tanaka for actually apologizing to the #yankees, fans and teammates for going on DL?

I feel good that we didn't sign him. The writing was on the wall with his high usage in Japan despite young age. Chances are still good though he recovers post (likely) TJ and is a high end rotation guy

What do we do? Strict pitch count limits? 6 man rotations? All I know is another quality SP goes down, and nobody is able to satisfy me as to why this is happening.

It's a good question. This guy pitched 6 years in Japan. Then he hurts his elbow during just his 18th start in MLB?!

How many more arms have to flame out like this in the Majors? So many promising careers either delayed or derailed the past few years (Harvey, Fernandez, etc.).

... or perhaps why it didn't happen as often when there were four-man rotations and rarely any pitch counts.
