What does this mean for the rotation for the Dodgers series? Is Quintana pitching Monday then?

I'm going Tuesday and hoping I somehow don't have to watch Noesi pitch.

Wonder if they wanted to avoid Sale hitting/running the bases in an NL park? Never hurts to give Quintana some extra rest during the grind of the season- and he's pitched well in the past at Dodger Stadium

Makes sense. He only threw 40 pitches because of the rain delay the other night and he will be on full rest due to the day off anyways.

Fans and MLB will be pissed since no Kershaw Vs Sale match as anticipated.

I'm fine with this. I don't need Sale amped up extra for that stage, especially coming of the DL so recently.

It's what landed him on the DL last time by trying to match pitch for pitch bs Lester.

Noesi has been pitching pretty well, actually.

I must admit, however, that I was glad to see Sale pitch vs the Yankees rather than Noesi. I got lucky - it looks like the opposite for you

Sale didn't get as much work in his last start as the White Sox were looking for. He had a three-week layoff while on the DL. Revising the rotation to accommodate the needs of the ace with rain and off days minimizing work isn't that unusual, although it does feel a bit old school.

Not playing in an NL park may have helped the decision, although there are aces on NL teams enjoy hitting and don't present automatic outs. Two first-place teams in the NL have used their ace starters as pinch-hitters this season, despite the risk of injury that hitting and running the bases seems to present.

That sucks. Heading to LA for the series and was really looking forward to Monday's matchup. Quintana vs Kershaw isn't bad, but doesn't have that same bite to it.

Sale vs Kershaw would have been a great national TV match-up, but I'd rather Sale not bat if it can be avoided. This should draw out a lot more fans, especially with tickets as low as $5 on Sunday.
