This is the year our top pitching prospect needs to get his work in.
Good to know, thanks

White Sox designate Jeff Keppinger for assignment after returning him from injury rehab and activating from DL

Daryl Van Schouwen ‏@CST_soxvan 20m

Abreu (sore ankle) likely off Fri following Thurs off-day, Ventura said. "He's going to fight it but it's probably a good time to do that.''
Ventura on Abreu: "He is getting better as much as it might not look like it.''

Chris Sale
"Yeah, the next few days, in between starts, (it will be) how my arm and my body react to getting back out there and going full bore every pitch," he said. "Obviously we'll be communicating with (Sox general manager Rick Hahn and trainer Herm Schneider). Whatever they have for me, I'm game for."

Adam Eaton
expected back Monday

Jose Abreu
on the 15-day disabled list with posterior tibia tendinitis in his left ankle.
Abreu returned to Chicago to have his ankle examined further, he understood the need for caution and would let the medical professionals decide how long he needed off.

Chris Sale is joining the White Sox in Kansas City so team can evaluate him. Not sure he will pitch in KC. Return could be vs. Yankees.

Scott Merkin ‏@scottmerkin 10m

It would make sense for Sale to throw a side or something of that nature in KC and then pitch against the Yankees at home

Jose Abreu
‘‘Right now, it’s reasonable to believe that we’ll be able to resolve this thing within the 15-day period,’’ Hahn said. ‘‘But since we do not know for sure, I’m not going to put a specific time frame on his return.

Further testing on Abreu would be done in Chicago and be fitted for a walking boot to immobilize the ankle.

This is almost word-for-word what they said about Danks in 2012. If past is prologue, I fully expect Abreau to have seaon ending shoulder surgery in July.

It's very good news. But it begs the question as to why the Sox didn't order these diagnostic tests a week earlier when it became obvious that Abreau was having significant problems. I'm no doctor, but armed with the knowledge that the cause of Jose's discomfort was inflammation and not structural damage, the Sox may have elected to treat the problem differently/aggressively (e.g. a few days off and corticosteroids) and perhaps avoided a two week stay on the DL. Seems like the Sox batted out of order here -- do the test first to determine the problem and then decide whether the treatment will require a trip to the DL.

Maybe someone with medical training can chime in.

Jose Abreu
MRI revealed inflammation in his injured left ankle, but no ligament damage.

Chris Sale
"The pain is mostly just in my lat, from getting extension, but nothing in my elbow. I played catch today and felt fine," Sale added. Plans to throw a bullpen session Tuesday to test the strained flexor mass muscle in his left arm. After that, we'll make another assessment," Ventura said.

Daryl Van Schouwen ‏@CST_soxvan 18m
Cooper on Sale's light sideline and next start: "It went well and next step is to decide when and where he does it."

Matt Lindstrom
Lower left leg injury
"I don't even know what that was," Ventura said. "We're still checking on him, making sure he's all right. It didn't look good though."

Lindstrom to the DL.
