First 6 pitchers set to face #WhiteSox: Ricky Nolasco, Kevin Correia, Phillip Hughes, Jeremy Guthrie, Bruce Chen and James Shields.

FWIW, here's the rotation the Sox started last year with:

1) Sale
2) Peavy
3) Floyd
4) Quintana
5) Axelrod

So yeah, this is a move in the right direction. Plus you have real SP prospects in the minors like Reinzo, Beck, Surkamp, and Bassitt, as opposed to last season when your SP depth in Charlotte included guys like Zach Stewart and Jason Berken.

How pathetic is it that I think the most winnable game in that Royals series will be the one Shields is starting?

I think our rotation could sneak up on people.

Sale and Quintana are a pretty good 1-2.
Paulino is an inning eater.
Danks could come back stronger and Johnson should have a good year.

I'm thinking we should get something like 65 wins from them.

Wow. I'll guess we'll see how new hitting coach Todd Steverson's 'hittable pitch' philosophy ends up shaking out pretty quickly...

You're seriously not suggesting people draw conclusions after 5 games, are you

Seriously! Why wait 5 games? I'm going to draw conclusions after the first turn through the batting order.

Why wait that long? I'm making my decision after the first pitch opening day.

With Sale pitching against Nolasco and Shields, there is not a game we can't win from the first 6.

Hmm...i guess that's just the order they are starting the season. Doesn't really make Paulino the #2 or Danks the #5 in my book. To me the #5 is the guy you skip in the order when you can. I'd hope Paulino is that guy. I was really looking for him to get bumped to long relief. Hopefully, he's just holding Reinzo's or Beck's spot while they get a couple months work in at AAA.
Well, I would say Quintana is clearly the No. 2 starter. They are just ordering them this way for whatever purpose, matchups or what have you.

I really doubt they are going to skip anybody. I think all five guys will take their turn.

Nope, but if we're ever gonna lay off unhittable pitches, it would be nice if we do so vs. the Royals' junkballers.

It's remarkable how we never miss facing both of those guys. I feel like they each get 10 starts each against the Sox during a typical season. On the plus side, the Sox lineup has a lot of new faces like Eaton, Garcia, Abreu, and possibly Semien that *perhaps* won't be as dazzled by these two "greats".

You joke but Chen actually has made 15 starts against the Sox since joining Kansas City in 2009. 15 of his 106 starts with KC have been against us... That's nearly 15%.

Colleen Kane ‏@ChiTribKane 2m

Javy Guerra pickup changes Sox bullpen situation. Ventura said they will iron it out today. Has idea who closer is but won't announce yet.
