I'm not sure if it's usually a mod that starts this thread but I figured we are close enough to Opening Day to start making predictions for the White Sox in 2014. And it also gives me an excuse to shamelessly promote a show I did that will be airing on CAN-TV as part of Northwestern's "Medill News Makers" show. There's also a cameo by WSI's very own LipMan1!
http://news.medill.northwestern.edu/...aspx?id=229258 My prediction for the Sox is that they will come in 4th place and go 75-87. I think De Aza will be dealt before the trade deadline and for some reason, I wouldn't be shocked if someone takes a gamble on Dunn. What do you guys think about 2014?

Excellent job interviewing Lip.
Ill wait awhile till I make this years prediction, starting pitching is currently concerning me, hopefully it will get on track before spring training is over. |

76-86.
Not good, but not as bad as last year (thank god) and starting to move back in the right direction. Risk

My pick is 77-85, and over .500 if most of the kids pan out.
This year is all about young talent supplanting overpaid and underperforming veterans. Johnson, Axelrod, Nieto, Abreu, Semien, Davidson and Eaton will have their ups and downs, but they should be fun to watch. Dunn, Flowers, Beckham, Keppinger and Viciedo will be traded, non-tendered or let go as a FA. Danks will have a nice comeback season and Paulie will go out with a bang. |

81-81, 3rd place, and a sexy pick for AL darkhorse for the 2015 season

I predict the Sox will be near the .500 mark, probably a bit below. 78-84.
I predict the most exciting position player we'll see this year is Adam Eaton. He's going to have a good if not great year as our leadoff man. Abreu is a close second in this "most exciting" category.

I do think the Sox will be better than .500, but only a game or two. |

I don't think the White Sox will be above .500, as I said earlier, but I think that this year might be a bit like 1971 when the Sox finished under .500 but were exciting. Hopefully that means 2015 can be like 1972 and the Sox will be contending.

I predict this season will have ups and downs, but will confirm our belief that Rick has us going in the right direction. Looking forward to strong first (full) seasons for Abreu and A. Garcia.
