The other option would be to let Gillaspie go and bring Davidson and Semien up for Opening Day.
They aren't going to let Gillaspie go. He's the starting third baseman on March 31. Davidson is going to the minors. I don't think Beckham will be ready to start the season. I think Semien will be the starting second baseman at the start. Keppinger will also be on the DL to start the year. I think L. Garcia makes the club initially as a utility player, but gets sent back down whenever Beckham or Keppinger comes back.

Still wouldn't be surprised if one of the two LFs gets traded and JorDanks ends up as the extra outfielder. I also think they'll carry 12 pitchers. I don't necessarily agree with that, but that's what every team does nowadays. It's just a product of bullpen specialization and the way the game is managed now in the late innings.

Unless the Sox make a deal for a catcher, IMO Nieto has a good chance to stick as backup catcher. He's not embarrassed himself this spring.

If not, we have to offer him back to the Nats due to Rule V, and Phegley would be best served by a stint in AAA than sitting 6 days a week.

I would swap Garcia for Semian. Semian has to play everyday to develop. Garcia's ceiling is not high at all, he is a utility guy, 24th/25th guy on the roster. That is the open role.

You're right. If Garcia is going to prove anything to anybody this year, it's going to be by hitting major league pitching during Beckham's stint on the DL and as a reserve when Beckham gets back.

Cleto has looked great in his last two outings. The Sox seem to like him. I think he makes the squad.

Boggs has not pitched that well. I think he might start at AAA. The Sox need a swingman in the bullpen and that might be Axelrod, believe it or not.

I agree- I forgot Garcia was a switch hitter (had him as a left handed hitter- so I was thinking of who would platoon with Gillaspie at 3rd)- we also need him as a 5th OF-

Does Boggs have any options left?
