Default Inside Look on CSN 9 PM Thursday

Chuck Garfien ‏@ChuckGarfien
Here's the best story you'll ever hear about Orlando Hernandez and "the most important inning in White Sox history." http://bit.ly/1fs7ct1

In the next edition of “Inside Look,” which debuts Thursday at 9 p.m. on CSN, Cooper takes us back to that memorable night at Fenway Park as only he can.

That's a great heads up.

People seem to forget how important that inning was in Boston where El Duke came in with the bases loaded and got three outs without a run scoring. If Boston comes back history could have been changed.

Game three was a Friday afternoon at Fenway. I remember sneaking out of work to watch the game at a nearby bar and being surprised that it was standing room only.

That innning was the moment I realized it was our year.

The only game I missed that year. It was fall break in college and I went on a road trip with friends from Atlanta back here. I remember being unable to find the game on radio and only getting updates from friends via text.

I thought it was in Game 2 when the ball went through Graffinino's legs and Iguchi deposited one in the LF seats the next batter to give the Sox the lead and the win. That doesn't happen, and/or El Duque was the El Duque he was most of the season (and the coaching staff had to talk KW into even having him on the postseason roster) that one inning, the wrong Sox might have won that series, or there might have been different heroes pulling out the series. That team took advantage of every break they got. And that is why they won.

Not only did El Duque do a masterful job of pitching out of that mess, he also changed Damaso Marte's pants when he went back to the dugout.

My moment of clarity for 2005 was AJ's play in the Angels series. I was really down about them losing game 1 after having so much rest and the Angels going back and forth across the country. Plus they lost to Paul frickin' Byrd. Winning game 2 brought back so much happiness!

Same here. After El Duke got through that inning, for the first time, I allowed myself to think that this team was on their way to do something very special.
