Opening Day is a special game for my brothers and myself. It does not matter if we don't have high hopes for the team, baseball is back!
We will be there for our 13th straight opener! ![]() ![]() |

My absolute favorite day of the year.
Went to my first one in 1984 when I was in college at Loyola and have made every one since. My bother has been with me at every one since the last year of Old Comiskey - 1990. I enjoy the excitement of a new season, better weather ahead etc. It is a rite of spring no matter what happened the year before. "You always get a special kick on opening day, no matter how many you go through. You look forward to it like a birthday party when you're a kid. You think something wonderful is going to happen." JOE DIMAGGIO

Sorry - allow me one more classic quote from Rogers Hornsby
"People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring." |

Thanks - it must be the persistence and loyalty the Jesuits taught us at Loyola...............

Or the need for a diversion from classes at Loyola....and sympathetic bosses, who often joined me.

Almost every opening day with my Dad and a few other friends and family since 2000. We didn't go in 2001, but went 2002-2005, went to the 2nd game in 2006 ("Ring Day") 2007-2010, decided to go to the 2nd game in 2011 ("First Night Game") and back to Opening Day in 2012-the present. Can't wait for 3/31/14! 12 out of 15 Opening Days and 14 out of 15.

I've been going to Opening Day since 2000. This will be my ninth in a row and fourth consecutive with my boyfriend. I've only missed two in the last 15 years - 2003 when I was student teaching and couldn't be absent, and 2005 when the game fell on the first day back after spring break and my principal didn't allow personal days to be taken on the day following (or leading up to) a vacation.

My Dad and I will be there. Been every year, except 1, since the new park opened! The only one I didn't get to was in 2006, but we went to the 2nd game instead because of the ring presentation, which was AWESOME!
This year, I splurged and purchased 2nd row tickets from a friend (paid a pretty dime)... should be a special day!!!! |

My Stubhub alert is set- afternoon off from work approved- if Tom Skiilling comes through with a decent weather forecast- pull the trigger and order tix.
I''ll take Opening Day over any other day in sports (other than White Sox post season games)- always a great time and great memories.
