I do have to say that the pullover that Ventura is wearing in the first tweet that I linked above is really sweet. I might have to look into getting one of those.

Matt Davidson likes the idea of the '83 uni being added to the rotation. The Sox added them because the players liked them so much:

The black jerseys are also still in play.

I'd rather see them wear the caveman uniform submitted during the 1981 uniform contest. (No I'm not making that up - see page 31 of this issue in the Sports Illustrated archive.)
If they tweaked those 1979 uniforms, I think they could make them look really nice. I think those uniforms were designed in connection with the 1906 Whitesox uniforms too. I never hear anyone complain about those uniforms.

I get why they're doing it, they're popular among some people and will sell some more hats and jerseys, but it does seem strange to have basically two different complete identities that will be used on whatever random days the players feel like. If they were going to do it, I'm a little surprised they didn't make a road version too (if it's really for the "players love it!" reason). I also think it might have made a little more sense to try to have it both ways and make a Silver/Black version of the uniform, so it doesn't seem so out of place with the normal uniforms.

That's a good idea, I think that would look a lot better than the regular 1983 uniforms. I bet those would sell 10 times more too.

Another kind of weird thing: unlike last year (and despite the fact that the Sox are going to keep calling this the "1983 uniform"), this isn't REALLY the 1983 uniform, because it has a new hat. So once they've made that change, why bother to keep the 83 ASG patch? Wouldn't it be better to have some form of Sox logo patch (like the one on the road uniform) or a Diamond Sock patch, in order to better tie the looks together?

This Sox uniform is one of the most popular throw backs in all of sports.

Good marketing call.

How about a RED Diamond Sock patch? Woah...

Shoulda gone with the 1994 'probable AL Champs' throwbacks.

It's nice to see they're going for a total money grab with the batterman hat. Having a batterman hat above a big SOX chest logo makes as much sense as having a uniform where the pants have a single black stripe and the shirts have a tuxedo stripe.

How about if the players wear them at home at night while they're eating pizza and playing video games, and when they're on the field they wear the real uniforms?

You never hear anyone complain about what uniforms? '79? or 1906? Plenty of people complain about 1979 because they were god awful. 1906? Probably not, mostly because those were worn 108 years ago and everyone who saw them is dead now.

Kind of makes you wish they would have used the '83 inspired chest stripe just in a grayscale color scheme so everything would click.

Doesn't make sense because the 30 year anniversary is over. Bring back the sleeveless vest.
Personally I like the 1917 World Series patriotic version of uniforms and hats, I believe they used to wear on Sunday's some time ago?

Is that your opinion or based on amount sold? If the latter then yeah might as well cash in on them. If not then I'm good with what we have currently. As many have said it is just weird how they have 2 completely separate things going.
