Default Rooftop owners, Cubs still at odds

I guess we can still hold out hope the Ricketts will move the team to Rosemont.

Step 1: Write a monetary figure on a piece of paper.

Step 2: Slide piece of paper across the table to rooftop owners.

Step 3: Cross out number and write another figure on a paper.

Step 4: Slide paper across the table Cubs.

Repeat steps 1-4 until numbers match.

This is all about cash and cash will settle it.

I actually just did a video story about this yesterday, where I was operating under the assumption that the changes would go through. Then this happened.

This has become one of those "I can't make this up" stories.

I love the slander lawsuit they filed. They have not suffered any economic harm from the guy who spoke the truth. Also that guy had nothing to do with the Cubs and the Cubs said they 100% disagree with his statement, but the Rooftop owners are still using it against the Cubs. Wow. Just wow.

The Cubs started this horse****. They allowed the rooftop clubs to make money off their product. Just solve it - either let them operate or put up your walls.

This has all been so entertaining to watch unfold. I hope it never ends! Maybe some day (hopefully in the offseason), Wrigley will just collapse in a heap of rubble.

Ricketts family purchases three of the rooftop apartment buildings outside the park, expanding Wrigley empire. http://fw.to/QOt4oFa

Remember when the people on the rooftops across from Wrigley Field were the ones who actually lived in the buildings?

Ironic that the story in the link is from the Tribune. Nowhere in the story does it mention that the Tribune still holds a minority interest in the Cubs. Also, though it describes the 17% deal with the building owners that was in place before Ricketts bought the Cubs, it doesn't mention that it was the Tribune company that oversaw that deal.

I know the Tribune's relationship with the Cubs is a tired story but it still gnaws at me.

Probably the best idea for the organization. Now puts some real outfield lights on top of those buildings similar to how Camden Yards utilizes the warehouse across the street. Make it a win-win.

Wrigley rooftop businesses sued the Chicago Cubs and team chairman Tom Ricketts in federal court Tuesday, accusing the team of violating the terms of its revenue-sharing contract and trying to create a price-fixing scheme that would monopolize the market for game tickets.

The investors also accuse Ricketts, whose family bought the team in 2009 for $845 million, of defaming the rooftop businesses and committing fraud when at the 2014 Cubs Convention he compared the businesses to a person “charging people money to wrongfully watch a neighbor's pay-television through their window.”

I have always felt that the Ricketts' ire is misdirected. They should be pissed off at the prior regime that got into bed with the rooftop owners in the first place, and put the contract into place that IMHO gives the rooftop owners grounds for a lawsuit. They borrowed money and built up their facilities once the Cubs legitamized the status quo.
