Funny, the controversy over isn't being laughed at the way a ban on Donald Duck comics in Finland was. Both were a result of a trouserless charchter.

Great piece from Will Leitch AKA the founding editor of Deadspin that articulates why this horrible mascot is getting such a bad rap, he represents a much larger destruction of the "Cubs charm" under the Ricketts...

Everyone at the Cubs seems to think that the whole Baseball Village idea outside Wrigley will only increase the team's popularity, but I wonder whether it will just lead to hardcore fans becoming more jaded and less willing to toss money at the team. The experience, I imagine, appeals more to tourists and chads and trixies than to the "real" fans. Maybe I'm wrong.

I think the Cubs have no interest in the "real" fans. I think they priced them out a long time ago.

I know plenty of ST holders who have sold most of their tickets at a loss the past two seasons.

24,000 season tickets were made available to the wait list crowd this year.

That seems like a really high number. At the same time, I also think - without any actual evidence (just based on the fact that I have many friends who have been selected in their process) - that this has been happening for 3 off seasons now.

Cubs attendance has been dropping for the past 5 seasons. Last year was their lowest since 1997.

I know a couple of guys who are ticket brokers that used to have maybe 20-30 different Cub season ticket plans who have slowly been dropping their numbers down into the teens or less because the demand just isn't there any more and they're tired of getting stuck with games where you can find bleacher seats going for pennies online.

At this point, their glorious "attendance" numbers are being propped up exclusively by tourists and NL Central foes. A few college buddies and I went to a Cubs/Cardinals game this past season and I have to say at least 50% of the Lower Bowl were Cardinal fans. Granted, St. Louis had a good team, but the same thing happens when the Brewers or Reds are in town, too, they absolutely swarm Wrigley.

Which Twin? Does Joe Mauer have his own mascot?

I read somewhere that this mascot is very similar to the Twins' mascot (I don't recall what the Twins' mascot looks like). It was a comment someone was making that Tom Ricketts has never had an original thought in his life.

Thanks for the article. Wow! You can't make this nonsense up. The Ricketts family won't quit until they have complete control of Lakeview. Pretty sad when they feel so threatened that they have to serve legal papers to a guy in a bear suit.

Chicago native Pat Sajak is not a fan of Clark.
