I think he's qualified to be the next Sox manager.

He always seemed like a nice guy who was battling some major demons. I hope he's won that battle and his demons are behind him.

Nicely said, I hope the same.
Hopefully someone extends a spring training invite.

Well, our closer role is unsettled.

That said, with a guy of Bobby's size with all of the stress put on the back of a major league pitcher, coming back from a spinal fusion is going to be extremely difficult.

This is probably KW's promised "big news." He re-signed Bobby Jenks.

I'm glad he's getting his life back on track. Not sure if he'll ever pitch again, but his whole life is ahead of him, so that should be the top priority.

I cant see many fans booing Bobby, he was a key part of that 2005 team and from my observations was always talking to fans, signing autographs etc at Spring Training.
Wish him well, sounds like he has been through hell.

It almost tempts me to go the Soxfest just so I could loudly cheer for Jenks. Not quite though -- not his fault.

I hope he gets a chance to come back, but for his sake, I hope it's elsewhere with no baggage or expectations.

I always thought he was way under-appreciated and taken for granted. The way he stepped up as a rookie and closed games in a pennant race for us was phenomenal. And then to back it up with years of great seasons with us...just a pleasure to watch him pitch. (Except against Baltimore.)

We loved Bobby Jenks. I remember when he first came up in 2005, before he was the closer, Ozzie would get booed for removing Jenks from the game after one inning, especially if he was being replaced by Damaso Marte. I still get chills whenever I hear that "Here Comes the Boom" song - rarely has there been such a perfect fit between player and entrance song.

One thing I find about ex-Sox players is that after many years, the negative memories fade and the positive ones are all that remain (except for Jose Paniagua). I even have positive feelings about Magglio these days.

This is a great post. I wish Bobby the best. I didn't realize the extent of his injuries. His 05 performance was incredible, and I will always be grateful for that.

What is he talking about being booed? The guy closed out game 4 of the world series. The fans at Soxfest are going to go crazy.
