Default RIP Paul Blair

I remember Paul Blair as one of the best defensive center fielders that I ever saw. He was something else with the leather.

I am sorry to see that he passed away.

+1. A vital part of those great Oriole teams of the late 60's and early 70's. Blair, Belanger, Brooks Robinson -- those teams could throw some leather at you.

The defense of the Orioles in the late 60's/early 70's was phenomenal. One of the unsung aspects of Earl Weaver's managerial style was his strong emphasis on defense.

Those Oriole teams of that era feasted on White Sox pitching. I don't remember the Sox winning many games against those guys but I remember a lot of 3 and 4 game sweeps by the Orioles.
