To keep moving forward it would be great if we could get a good young catcher who "is major league ready" like (Eaton or Garcia) by trading De Aza and a guy like Rienzo. Maybe Beckham can fetch an every day catcher.

I wonder how Jesse Crain's health is- if he is healthy I would like him at the back end of the bullpen too.

You can never have too many former Expos on your roster.

Beckham isn't that bad and we have a lot of MI prospects. Only trade Beckham for a catcher, if that. We still wouldn't have a playoff quality pitching staff. Patience.

That's just the price of talent these days. The owners must be rolling in cash since players are getting pretty nice contracts this offseason.

I doubt the Sox will sign a starting pitcher. I'm guessing that they're going with Johnson and Rienzo to fill out the rotation.

Catcher is about the only thing left that I am expecting to be upgraded in some fashion. I wouldn't mind an upgrade at 2B and another starting pitcher, but I don't think they will happen until next offseason after we see how the minor leaguers we have progress.

As long as this reliever in his late 30s isn't Mike Myers, I'll be happy.

I remember when Scott Downs was traded by the Cubs to the Expos for Rondell White.

Great pick up by the Sox. This guy is and has been a quality lefty out of the pen. Rick Hahn has been a much needed breath of fresh air; and I am looking forward to next season. Now go and get us a catcher and unload DeAza or Dunn in the process. I still see the Sox picking up another starter; just maybe Hahn is laying in the weeds for Tanaka

Using him as anything more than a lefty specialist would turn this solid signings of a role-player to a miscast mistake in personnel usage, IMHO. Why take him out of the role he's held down for so long, one that was very much a need for us, at the end of his career?
