Default White Sox 25 Man Roster- "If the season opened today"

Took a stab at it- recognizing there is still plenty of time for moves, spring training surprises, etc.
Current issues for Hahn-
  1. Lots of unknowns in the bullpen after moving 3 pitchers to upgrade position players and 3/5's of the starting rotation is a crapshoot.
  2. Catching is horrible- we all know that
  3. No room for Gillaspie, and need to move Keppinger to open up spot for a true utility (middle) infielder.
Pitching
1. Sale
2. Danks
3. Quintana
4. Johnson
5. Paulino
6. Jones
7. Lindstrom
8. Rienzo
9. TBD
10. TBD
11. TBD
12. TBD
Infield/DH
13. Dunn
14. Konerko
15. Abreu
16. Beckham
17. Ramirez
18. Davidson
19. Keppinger
Outfield
20. Viciedo
21. Eaton
22. Garcia
23. De Aza
Catcher
24. Flowers
25. Phegley

They either need to get rid of Dunn, Viciedo, or De Aza or start either Abreu or Davidson in AAA because there's no way you can go into a season with a bench as thin and inflexible as that.

We lose a roster spot because of the platoon at DH.
They'll probably need to find a way to keep L Garcia up, because he's the only backup SS we have and he can play OF.
That said, I'd rather him play AAA this year, and see if he can learn to hit a little and become a replacement for Alexei until Anderson is ready. His hitting was tolerable at the various minor league levels.
Maybe this guy Elmore can play SS though.
And Jordan Danks is fine for the D Wise position on the roster...there just isn't room.

Seemed to me from some of the comments that Hahn made after the trade that Davidson was likely to start at AAA unless he really proved he was fully ready this spring. And of course that's subject to other moves as well.

Elmore played more games at SS than anywhere else.

I think that's going to happen, seems like it would make sense to get Davidson some more season in AAA and not lose Gillaspie unless Matt has an absolute monster Spring. I also got a feeling Abreu will be starting the year in AAA and the Sox will just work their asses off trying to unload Dunn, so let's hope he starts the year hot and makes life easier for everyone.

I suspect that Davidson is likely going to start the year in AAA but I also think that De Aza will likely be dealt. I am not sure what we can get for him but he should be somewhat attractive to other teams.

Yep! Hahn needs to eliminate the Big Donkey with a Milton Bradley - Carlos Silva type deal.

Is there a brutally over-priced veteran middle infielder that we can bring to the club in exchange for Dunn?

Is Orlando Hudson still on a major league roster?

If Abreu starts the season in AAA, I'll eat my hat. The Sox aren't going to send a 26 year old making something like $25MM this year (bonus included) to AAA.

Also, I'll be equally shocked if ADA is on the team.

How else do you make it work? Keppinger is seriously your only utility IF? Go with 11 pitchers?

I would guess theyre more likely to eat Keppinger's salary and have Garcia be a super sub. He can play everything but C and 1st. ADA won't be on the team either.

ADA is the 4th outfielder currently, so swapping him doesn't really change the dynamics of the roster, you just replace his name with Jordan Danks then. Unless you actually think the Sox are going into next season with 1 guy serving as their primary IF and OF sub.

I could see them going only Garcia to back up all 3 OF's, or dumping Dunn. I don't know how they'll pull it off, but Abreu will not start in AAA.

That Konerko signing just blows my mind. The ripple effect it's going to have on the roster is pretty bad.

Keppinger or Gillaspie at 3B with Davidson in Charlotte?
