I would assume he's probably the Opening Day 3B. Closer is probably Jones, maybe Webb

As a fan, you have to applaud all the moves the Sox have made.
They are definitely moving in the right direction. |

I know that fielding percentage isn't the best defensive metric out there, but Davidson's .925 fielding percentage at third in the minors is pretty awful.
That being said, I have no problem with moving Reed for him. |

Holy crap.
This is big... Way to go Hahn. Closers are expendable.

I'm not a prospect guru, but in just perusing various message boards over the past couple months, Davidson is always included in the hypothetical trades with AZ proposed by fans of other teams. I don't know if that means much, but getting a starting position player that could man 3B for 6-7 years in return for a mediocre closer sounds pretty damn good to me.

Bullpen pitchers are a dime a dozen. If this Davidson becomes just a solid 3B, the trade was worth it.

I liked Reed, but we all know that closers are year to year....and probably a closer is not desperately needed next year for a team that probably does not contend.
And, I like how Hahn has put some young talent together since last July. |

Closers on bad teams are expendable and it looks like Davidson has put up some good offensive numbers in the past, someone mentioned he had a low fielding percentage (I know, I know it's a bad stat) but that is somewhat alarming. We will see though, it appears to be a good move.

I like it- I'll wait to see what the prospect gurus have to say- but I think Reed was a very replaceable closer- and I REALLY like what Hahn has done with acquiring a number of young, but major league ready talent.
I'm going to include Viciedo (since he's 24) in the mix- LF, CF, RF, 3rd, 1B- with young/new/exciting talent- mixed in with (holiday optimism) Ramirez and Beckham- only the catcher role to upgrade as far as starting 9 goes. From rock bottom in July- to make all this progress- and only giving up Peavy/Santiago/Reed- I am very impressed with Hahn-
