This was a good trade in picking up an every day starter for the a guy who did not figure long term as a main cog in the rotation. I thought he was a goner after a game late in the season where he walked like 8 guys and Cooper publicly ripped him. Cooper wants guys that throw strikes and Santiago always seemed like someone who lacked confidence in his stuff and always nibbled. There's plenty of guys like that around.

The Sox have some promising arms that will replace him, like Beck, Snodgress, or Bassit. I just hope we didn't give away a good one in the PTBN to Arizona.

It's Brandon Jacobs, right? He's not much of a prospect, is he?

My bad, thought it would be a reference to the injury concerns. That's pretty funny that Law graded his slider so low. It is quite possible, however, that he simply didn't remember Sale. I wouldn't necessarily jump to the conclusion that he never saw Sale at that point. These guys watch thousands of guys pitch.

All I wanted this offseason was a Santiago or Quintana for a young offensive player trade. Santiago is not hard to replace. Erik Johnson will do that just fine.

Getting a young bat like Eaton was such a need. Great trade.

Not much.
Law now says that he learned a new pitch ( a new or substantially improved slider) once in professional baseball.

I suppose that's possible. I didn't see much of Sale until after he got to the big leagues, so I wouldn't know.
