Default Sox Acquire OF Adam Eaton from D'Backs; Santiago dealt

Bernie Pleskoff ‏@BerniePleskoff 5m
Deal done. Trumbo goes from #Angels to #Dbacks. Eaton goes to #WhiteSox and Skaggs and Santiago go to #Angels. Don't know of other players.

Let's see the whole trade. Interested to see if we got or gave up another prospect...

So when do we move De Aza or Viciedo?

Eaton's numbers do not bowl me over....is he better than his numbers?\

I am a fan of Hector...just a quality young man, and kind of hate to see him leave the Sox.

But, I know, gotta give up something to get something.
He can be a solid starter in the NL for the D-Backs.
Kind of like the starter we traded to the Padres for Peavy( Richards).

Better to build around Eaton than De Aza. His baseball smarts couldn't possibly be worse.

First impression is I like it. Eaton was a very high prospect before last year.

Move De Aza to LF and trade Viciedo for a near-ready 3B or a C prospect. De Aza is more athletic and a better hitter and defender than Viciedo. He hit more homers than Viciedo last year too, albeit in more PAs.

Hector's going to the Angels, not the D-Backs.

I hate to see Santiago go, but I like this deal.

Angels give up Trumbo but get Santiago and Skaggs in return? Sounds like they got the best part of this deal.

Also, it was mentioned in the other thread that the Sox are also getting a PTBNL from the Angels. Anyone know if that's the case?

Loved Hector. Seemed like a first-class dude, easy to root for. Wish him the best. I know nothing about Eaton, so please tell me this is a worthwhile deal.

I will add that I'm glad we moved Hector instead of Sale or Quintana.

Assuming Eaton is good, now we need a C and 3B and perhaps the folks around here who have already written off 2014 will quiet down a bit. A boy can dream.

Not thrilled with this deal.

Santiago is an inexpensive LH power arm.

I wanted proven ML talent for him.

Well, 1560 career minor league plate appearances and a .450 OBP is something to smile about.

I liked Santiago, but we all knew what our weaknesses were...
I think Garcia, Eaton and Abreu are certainly a nice - high upside - start to fixing things on the offensive side of things.
