Default Black Jack wants an MLB job

Its a shame that it doesn't look like it will be with the Sox.

Its a shame his candor in his blog probably rubbed the chairman in the wrong way. He would have made a very good color man but that would never happen with reinsdorfs carnival barker in the booth till he dies.

I have two observations:

1. I can't believe that McDowell is 47. Where has the time gone?

2. McDowell is a terrific broadcaster. He did a great job in the past in the Sox booth and would do very well on radio or television. In a perfect world, Dave Wills and McDowell would broadcast Sox games or radio or television. That would be outstanding.

I didn't think he was very good at all. To each his own.

When I met him in '05, I asked him if he would go for Rooney's job. He did a great job filling in the Hawk that year for a couple of games. He said no because the travel would keep him away from his kids too much. I watched a game with him, it was a great experience-he not only explained what just happened, but would say what was about to happen and what the batter or pitcher was going to do wrong and all of his predictions came true.

He would be much better than Stone as a color guy.

I saw Blackjack sit in on MLB Network for a segment the other day....he was a good interview. As always, he is opiniated.

When asked about his music career, he said that eventually it dawned on him that he does love baseball more than anything else and so he became a high school coach.

Would not mind having him take a spot in the radio or tv booth for the Sox.
