How is it unfair? Hitting .197 over three years....

Yes, but not that much worse according to WAR (worth about a game). And defense doesn't matter if they're DH's.

I like how Hahn handled this.

I trust PK. If he is not healthy, or does not think he can be productive, I think he will retire.

Otherwise, he might come back and have a decent year.

PK knows his own body and the game....he does not want to hang on as a bad hitter.

Last year what 32 Hr's to Paulies 12? The year before that he was Comback Player of the year. And name me one guy in the line up that did well? Also who the hell is going to bat LF this year? Is Dunn useless, not as bad as people think. Over paid sure. Sox fans act like he's the reason they sucked

Comeback player of the year was only because he sucked so bad in 2011. He hit .204 in 2012 the year he won thw award- so he still sucked- just not as bad as in 2011.

Adam Dunn in 2013- .219 BA, .320 OBP, .762 OPS, .241 w/RISP

Paul Konerko in 2013- .244/.316/.669, .319 w/RISP

I'll take Paulie- any day.

He's not the reason we sucked- we're just better without him- no matter how many solo/meaningless HRs he hits- a .219 batting average for a DH is just unacceptable.

Could make a power lineup with no Defense. I might go watch that at least.

SS Alexei
CF De Aza
LF A Garcia
DH Konerko
RF Dunn
1B Abreu
3B Viciedo
2B Beckham
C Phegley

Maybe Sale wins more games 2-1 off of solo shots.

If Abreu isn't ready for the majors, the Sox need a new GM.

You have so many posts ragging on Dunn, it's hard to take you seriously. He's still a premier power hitter. He still walks a lot, including leading the league in '12. Dunn is a very flawed player that still has value. Konerko is statistically among the worst in baseball. It's not even a discussion.

*disclaimer*
I harp on Beckham a lot, but he actually does suck. Both the offensive and defensive numbers prove it.

I'll take Konerko over Dunn any day. He can at least hit his weight! Also when healthy and locked in he is one of the more dangerous hitters in the league. I like Dunn but him striking out 15 times every 6 games before he hits a homer has played itself out IMO. "But he walks!" Please let's not go there.

Again, who's going to bat left on this team and provide Power? You need to have a Leftie power Between Garcia and Abreu

OK, uh, why? You're aware the team isn't going to be very good this upcoming season and Abreu is a long-term project, right? There were supposedly several teams offering similar deals so it's not like they could have just waited. Guy might need a little time just getting used to life in America, let alone playing professional baseball at this level. Even Yasiel Puig needed some seasoning in the minors before he made his debut.

He doesn't have value.

It's not my opinion- it's the fact that zero MLB teams have any interest in adding Adam Dunn to their roster- if any of them did see value in Dunn- he's be gone by now as part of the rebuilding/retooling of the team.
