This is just to keep the fans with pitchforks at home, and they can plod through Ventura's final year and then maybe replace him. I knew the Sox weren't going to pay him to not manage next year, but they had to offer up some kind of sacrificial lamb.

But if we're going to have a younger team next year, Manto needed to either change his approach or be gone to give these younger players a chance instead of always being behind the count due to the preached "aggressiveness".

You don't set up kids to fail like that, hitting is hard enough at the big league level to give the pitcher advantages.
Yep, typical Sox token firing as the organization continues to be a mess.

That will fix this team's fundamental problems

This organization is an embarrassing joke.

There are like 10. That number still sucks.

Nah, to him this team was about one player from winning the World Series. Oh, and probably a couple umpire calls.

I'd rather see an organizational approach to hiring a manager that has at least some kind of track record of managing.

SMO
According to Hawk hitting coach is the most important position in baseball.

Yeah he's too much, I can't listen anymore. I like his style and approach but the excuse making and sunshine is intolerable. I don't know whether he has to be that way or he really believes what he is saying.

Should the organization have announced it via carrier pigeon instead?

Yeah - how is an announcement made during a broadcast - about something team-related - "classless?"

One of the broadcaster's tasks is keeping the fans tuning in informed.

I thought remember reading that the story was leaked before the team was ready to announce it, anyway.

Anyone else think that Paul Konerko may be the next Sox hitting coach?

I have no idea if he would do a good job or not.

But even if he sucked, he would never be fired. And that's a poor way to run a results-oriented business.
