Of course, what makes the wild card so wild anymore is that you don't so much make the postseason, but you earn an opportunity to make the postseason in a play-in game. It's really no different from the White Sox having to beat the Twins in a one-game playoff to make the postseason.

But if you're looking for former White Sox World Series stars this postseason, consider that Juan Uribe could win his third ring this year with his third team.
Nobody disputes this. But we all love Game 163s. This guarantees two of them a year. Count me in.

Rays might be in some trouble, as a Ryan Goins home run makes it 5-1 Blue Jays.
Meanwhile, the Rangers are up 3 on the Angels in the 8th inning and the Tribe and Twins are still in a rain delay.

CLE won again today. Whatevs. Their streak can run out just when they don't want it to -- in the post-season.

Jimenez is starting for Cleveland, Moore is starting for Tampa and Darvish is starting for Texas.
Let's see who has what it takes.

A three-way tie for the two wild-card play-in spots would be the most interesting way to end the AL season, or begin the postseason, if you will. Or you could have two teams tie for the second play-in slot and have a one-game playoff the day after the season to determine which team will be on the road for the one-game playoff with the winner going on the road in the divisional series.

No matter what happens, I don't see the Indians winning one game in the playoffs.

If they don't win the first game, they won't win any. And they won't be facing the White Sox, which would put them at a disadvantage.

The only thing guaranteed at this point is that Cleveland's last game won't be tomorrow. If it ends up being a three-team tie, Cleveland has the best record head-to-head among the three (7-5) while Tampa is 7-6 and Texas is 5-8, so they would get to choose their designation first (A, B, or C).

In that scenario, B plays at A on Monday. The winner gets one Wild Card spot; the loser goes to C on Tuesday and the winner of that game gets the other spot. It appears that Tampa would go to Cleveland on Monday, with the loser going to Texas on Tuesday, and that's before the wild card game would be played on Wednesday, where either Cleveland would be at Tampa, Tampa would be at Texas, or Texas would be at Cleveland.

The winner, regardless of who it is, would head to Boston, while Detroit starts their playoff series in Oakland. Prior to 2012, the wild card winner played the highest seed unless they were in the same division.

Tampa and Cleveland both winning. First pitch in Texas won't happen until both of those games are close to over.

Tampa has coughed up 6 runs of a 7 run lead, up 1 heading to the B9 in TO.

Twins on the board and cooking in Minny.

Rangers down 1 but men on in the 5th in TX.

Could be a fun one...

Tampa holds on to win 7-6. Tribe up 5-1 in the nintth, and Rangers lead 2-1 in the sixth.

Cleveland gets a spot and home field for the Wild Card game with a win, and Texas needs to win to force Game 163 with Tampa in Texas, presumably tomorrow.

I so look forward to seeing Cleveland get housed in the playoffs. It'll be the first time they play a competitive team in over a month aside from the Royals whom they dropped 4 of 6 to.

The Rangers are hanging on by the skin of their teeth against the Angels, going into the bottom of the 7th, 3-2 Rangers.

An Adrian Beltre home run makes it 5-2. Tampa better start packing their bags for Texas.
