Agreed. But I do think Ventura (and Kenny Williams) should be.
I don't care how much infield Ventura is making these guys do or how many closed door meetings there have been, etc. the bottom line is he deserves some blame for this debacle , contrary to what a lot of people would have you believe. This team is mind numbingly incompetent. Every time I think about the state of the Sox I think of how KW built this powerhouse . I think Danks will be ok but that contract is going to be ridiculous either way, he'll never perform up to that. The Sox might just singlehandedly get Cleveland in the playoffs, lol.

And John Danks on his best day and best year wasn't as good as Santana once was.

Getting anything out of Danks is going to be a problem. Maybe try him in the pen...see if he can get 3 7th inning outs.

DANKS - 131.1 IP, 6 K/9 IP, 1.9 BB/9 IP, 1.302 WHIP
BUEHRLE - 189.1 IP, 6.1 K/9 IP, 2.3 BB/9 IP, 1.331 WHIP

Buehrle's retired 204 more batters with an ERA 0.60 lower, yet Danks has been as good or slightly better?!? Interesting analysis.

Well, to be fair to Doub, Buehrle has thrown what? Fifty more innings than Danks? The thing with Buehrle is his is overall numbers this year might be similar to Danks but since June Buehrle has been very effective for the Blue Jays while Danks has been hit or miss.

It's a bit early to judge Danks, especially since this whole season has been a waste but the history of pitchers who have had his surgery is not encouraging.

Thanks for posting this. I posted it myself a few times. People don't want to let it sink in. The best case of someone with Danks injury is Rich Harden, who was on and off the field his entire career because of it (with bouts of effectiveness). And Harden opted NOT to do the surgery.

He's also the only one to suffer it at a young age, like Danks.
