Default *Official* 8/25 - Sunday Funday - Sox take 2 of 3 from Rangers Postgamer

Another nice series, and another nice outing from Danks the Elder, and hopefully Avisail will be all right...

Any word yet on what got Mark Parent ejected during the Lineup card exchange?

Another nice win, we went 4-2 against Texas this year, not too shabby.
I'm going to go out on a limb and say it won't take all that much to contend next year ( some wise FA pickups). I say screw the draft choices and win as many games as they can and head into next year with good vibes.

"Dehydrated." Coach speak for hungover. Saturday night in a world class city. I don't blame him.

I'm on the same boat. The starting pitching and back end of the pen is there, they just need to patch up a few things. There are still holes on this roster, but it can be improved with some shrewd moves. Since they recently decided to stop beating themselves, the Sox have been playing pretty well.

Next year we can be a lot more successful if we get more out of our young talent. If we have a catcher who can hit .230 or higher, that would be great. Right now, Phegley is at .213 and Flowers hit .190 with 250+ ABs (OBP under .250). We can't have that if they aren't going to be premier defensive catchers. If they are and you have hitters produce in other positions, then you can afford someone at .215 or .220 in this position.

I like what I have seen out of Beckham this year. He's batting almost .300 and if he can be a leader in the clubhouse, that's something we need for the future.

We also can win if we get production from the power positions: Dunn, Konerko, and Viciedo. Great to see Viciedo and Dunn hitting better as the season has progressed, but it doesn't do much for that to start when we're far behind. Konerko has battled some tough injuries this year. We either need him to be healthy or we need someone at 1B that can hit.

We have a lot of money to play with next year - enough that we can add a key FA or two to start toward a great 2015 season, when hopefully we would add a few more key pieces.

That's Jordan Danks's third game winning home run in his White Sox career. He was sent to the minors immediately after the last two. Keep your bags packed, kid.

There is a whole lot more reason to be optimistic about this team for next year than there was a month ago. Dunn seems to have it figured out at the plate, Alexei is playing like we all know he is capable of, and we have some really good young arms.

Plus Garcia really looks like a great talent.

And some of our potential offseason trade pieces are adding value by playing well. Beckham, Ramirez, Danks...good stuff.

We need a centerfielder, a 3rd baseman and 4 guys in the back of the bullpen to contend.

At least. A bona fide 3rd/4th place hitter would be essential.

Are you including Donnie Veal in the back end of the pen???? I don't see a left hander so I assume that is one hole in the pen. They also have the Crane opening.

The back end of the pen is Jones and Reed. That covers the 8th and 9th. Just need some guys to cover the 7th and garbage time.

Are you assuming Konerko plays first???? I think they need a first baseman as well and possibly a catcher.

Watched a game from the skyboxes for the first time today. Stuffed from all the food and drink, but very happy with the result. Hope Garcia can come back tomorrow, but the younger Danks answered the call.

No. I think the 8th inning needs to be addressed, but there are young arms there. It just depends on if they want to go with a young guy, or sign a vet.
