He frequents my place of work. As of about two months ago he had not retired officially.

I heard him on the radio not long ago and he didnt say he was retired. Then I think back to Dye, it took him a long time to say it also.

About a month ago Beckham said PK had gas left in the tank and wanted to play. So look forward to him being here unless management does the unthinkable. They might put his name up on the Wall of Honor and hope that he gets the hint, but I can't see them not resigning him. Although they bailed out on Big Frank and it turned out that he had something left.

I'm betting he's here.

Are people forgetting that Frank was coming off a serious foot injury and that the Sox would've had to commit way more money to him to find out if he was healthy than the 1M or so the A's signed him for?

If Paulie still has gas in the tank, I would not mind a team friendly 2 year/2nd year team option contract; as long as he is ok not playing every day. However, whether Konerko is here next year or not, it should not preclude the White Sox from exploring other long term 1st Base options, who ever they might be.

Even if he has gas in the tank, what happens if you find a 1st base option. Unless Dunn is gone, where can Paulie play??? If Dunn stays and they find a 1st base option, regardless if he has gas in the tank, there is no space for him.

Sadly, if PK is not back with the Sox I think he will have a tough time finding a job in the offseason.

Sure, Paulie can come back - but only at severely reduced pay. In fact ...

I like Konerko and greatly appreciate what he has done with the Sox, but he needs to go. He represents the Old Style of doing things on the south side.

Don't see any roster room for Konerko. We are going to keep Gillespie and we're stuck with Keppinger, and that's 2 corner infielders...plus Dunn and maybe plus Viciedo.
And we need a real CF (that would be my top priority) also taking a spot.

You could always deal Keppinger and eat part of his salary. I believe Hahn that it's an option if we need to make a move, and they proved it with the Rios deal.

He's obviously going to have to stay in the AL because I don't think he can play 1B everyday at this point. Looks like the only teams that may have room for his services are Cleveland, New York, and maybe Oakland.

I don't think he will find a suitor if the Sox close the door.

Konerko needs to retire. He's got nothing meaningful to contribute. He's hitting .236 with 42 RBIs in the 4 and 5 hole. One more year of age and it only gets worse. It's time for some young players to get a chance.
