Best of both worlds. Got a decent but not great prospect and dumped Rios's salary. We could use some infield depth, and a utility guy with a great glove like Garcia is not a bad thing to have when building a well rounded ML roster.

Of course, only one of those teams has won a World Series in the last decade. If either the Tigers or Dodgers win it all this year, I'll retract that statement.

Doug Padilla @ESPNChiSox

Hahn says team has every intention of getting Avisail Garcia here before Game 2, which starts at 7:10 p.m.

I was just thinking the Sox really needed another high strikeout, no walk hitter in their organization

The Sox have a number of pitching prospects. They picked up Leury Garcia a good defense, fast, switch hitting SS who is 22. Garcia doesn't seem to be too much of a hitter with a lifetime .261 average/.310 OBP in the minors. He has shown a lot of speed with 155 career stolen bases. Many had projected that Jurickson Profar and Garcia would be the future keystone combo for Texas, so Garcia is a decent enough prospect.

The most important part of this deal for the Sox is financial flexibility in putting together the 2014 and 2015 Sox.

It is an end of an era. The chapter needed to be closed, I think. This gives Hahn the opportunity to place his stamp on the team.

That's my height and about 25 pounds heavier than me, he is now my new favorite player!

I like this move because we have a replacement for Rios in Avasail Garcia and it saves up a lot of money that we can ideally spend on the draft or international signings.

Don't know much about Garcia, but I was hoping the Sox would get a little more for Rios.

This is a high strikeout, no walk banjo hitter.

The Sox have no say in how much money they will be able to spend in the Draft or (most) international signings, that will all be budgeted for them based on how they finish.

If they couldn't move him before the deadline then anything that happened after was going to be tough. They got a prospect and only paid the Rangers a $1M so I'm good with it.

The Sox salary for next season right now is at 48M.

Danks 15.75M
Dunn 15M
Alexei 9.5M
Keppinger 4M

Hopefully Dunn, Alexei and Keppinger will be traded soon.

Yeah, but we won't know how good this deal is until we see how Garcia pans out. I am okay with this deal.

I feel like you are missing Sale's salary.

Sale salary is counted for in the 48M. He's getting 3.5M next season
