Default Let's Go Bucs!

Being a depressed White Sox fan is made slightly more palatable by the performance of my local baseball team.

This is a perfect example of the contagious nature of good play.
The Pirates have received great pitching from castoffs like AJ Burnett, Wandy Rodriguez, and now Francisco Liriano. A kid named Jeff Locke is pitching lights out. The bullpen, led by Jason Grilli (saves leader) and Mark Melancon (who at one time had a 49.50 ERA with Boston), is lights out.

Young talent abounds in the field, with Andrew McCutchen, Starling Marte, Pedro Alvarez, and Neal Walker.

They play baseball with a great attitude, they have young stars mixed with players looking to prove themselves, and a manager that is doing a phenomenal job motivating them.

Oh, and now young Mr. Cole is on the roster, and he looks GOOD.

It's a lot of fun to watch this team play ball. It shows me that better days can be ahead for the Sox if they take advantage of their down years, draft well at the top, and make some value trades.

I just picked up Cole on my fantasy team, if I had MLB.tv I would love to watch his starts.

I'm following the Reds this summer since the Sox are so awful.

Well, Pittsburgh took advantage of twenty consecutive down years; if that's the route we're going wake me up in 2033.

Good farm, some solid player development, a star in McCutchen, and two more likely on the way in Cole and Taillon. Fun team to watch, easy to pull for. I've enjoyed what I've seen so far.

I've been there. Nice ball park, nice town for the most part. I do however agree with the **** Pittsburgh remark due to Steeler's fans being some of the most obnoxious in all of sports.

If only they could come up something far more witty like "There's a timeout...".

Yeah, the "yinzers" can get obnoxious. They make the town look bad.
A lot of those people have their entire sense of self worth tied into a sports team, which I find sad.

While we were bellyaching in 2010 that the Pirates made a profit and weren't putting it into their major league payroll, they were pouring millions into scouting and drafting:
