Default Welcome Yasiel Puig!

It's early, but this young man looks like a legitimate star in the making. After a 2-4 MLB debut, Puig went 3-4 with two home runs and five runs batted in. No one may be happier to have Puig around than Don Mattingly, who's finally getting production from his outfield.

What do the Dodgers do when Kemp, Crawford and Ethier are all back at the same time and healthy?

The word around Los Angeles is that Mattingly wants Ethier gone: the Dodgers signed him to a long-term deal before 2012, but that seems to have been a political ploy on the part of their new administration, a way to show fans that they weren't afraid to spend money to bolster their roster. Privately, Mattingly and other representatives of the Dodger organization have soured on Ethier, as he doesn't provider leadership in the clubhouse, and he's too inconsistent to depend on in the middle of the lineup.

Puig has drawn comparisons to Vladimir Guerrero and Andre Dawson. If he pans out, the Dodgers won't need Ethier any longer.

Puig is still a very raw player, so his hot start notwithstanding, it's unlikely he's ready to be an everyday MLB player quite yet.

But yeah, I agree with RK, the odds that Ethier finishes his deal in LA are basically 0% right now.

But seriously, watch this ****ing throw. WATCH THIS ****ING THROW: http://wapc.mlb.com/play/?content_id=27719161

Saw this guy at Spring Training this year. The thing that caught my eye was his speed around the bases. He hit a routine base hit to fairy shallow right field and was almost on second before the ball hit the ground. There was an audible gasp from the crowd.

I seem to recall a game Tuffy Rhodes had...

Time will tell if Puig can live up to the hype surrounding him. I don't anticipate him playing every day as long as the Dodgers have a surplus of outfielders, but if he can establish any sort of consistency, it's likely the Dodgers make a move at the trading deadline. Andre Ethier may not be welcome in Chavez Ravine any longer, but he could be an important piece on a contending team.

I think this guy is the real deal. I only wish I could have picked him up for that Fantasy Baseball league i'm a member of here. Hitting a 440 foot homerun is impressive but I like the fact that he seems to walk alot too.

That's what I thought at first, but if you look at the angle where Adrian Gonzalez is shown in close-up, the throw beats the runner's foot to the bag.

Flat-footed off the wrong foot too. Kids got an arm that's for damned sure.

9 RBI's and 3 homeruns in three days. I know baseball is a business but if they had called this kid up out of spring training , I think the Dodgers would be over 500.

I wish the Sox had someone like this in the farm system.

I know the Dodgers have had some badluck with injuries but how can a team be under 500 with Matt Kemp, Adrian Gonzalez, Clayton Kershaw and Carl Crawford. It wouldn't surprise me if even with Puig and Grienke now on their roster that they still lose. I would fire Mattingly but first I would fire whoever the Dodgers trainers are because i've never seen a team have so many hamstring injuries.
