Gonzo wrote this morning that Floyd has confirmed a "tear in his right flexor muscle and that his ulnar collateral ligament is unstable."

Looking at options that might not require surgery.

Danks by the way went seven innings last night and got up to 91 on the gun in his rehab start.

Keith Law doesn't like Floyd exploring other options as tweeted last night:
Quote:
Oh, Gavin Floyd wants to rehab his elbow injury instead of having surgery. That always works out well.
As much as I wish Floyd would come back, surgery might indeed be the best option if he wants to pitch again.

I was also hoping they'd trade him this past offseason or towards the deadline this season...

...but at this point I'm just glad we don't have him under contract after 2013 is done.

Gavin Floyd "tentatively plans" for Tommy John surgery
White Sox pitcher Gavin Floyd now "tentatively plans" for Tommy John surgery after he was diagnosed with a tear in his flexor muscle, USA TODAY reports.

Floyd is slated for a third opinion on Monday but all signs now point toward the season-ending surgery for the right-hander. Floyd threw 24 1/3 innings for the White Sox in 2013, with a 5.18 ERA.
Not good.

Really sucks that after his years of service, it's come to this. Hope something comes out of it.

Tough situation for him going into next year without a contract.

Sucks. I always liked Gavin and thought he was under appreciated. Good luck.

Highest K/9 for a pitcher with over 1,000 in a Sox uniform. So long, Gavin.

Guess you can start a thread remembering Floyd since his days with the Sox are done.

Wow, it sounds like he might not be ready to return to MLB pitching until 2015.

Unfortunately, this sounds like a career-threatening injury. There's no question Gavin's days with the Sox are over.
