I'm getting ready for a lot of these this season.

It's all Viciedo's fault. He's a marginal Major League player, and because of him, the Sox organization is doomed. Doomed, I tell you! And anyone who disagrees with doesn't understand baseball.

At least Rios continues to rake. Gillaspie also is holding his own. Keppinger and DeAza look like they might start to hit, too.

Is this the hyperbole to match the "He's the same as Jason Heyward" hyperbole?

It's hyperbole to mock the people who insist on devaluing everything he does on the baseball field. Nobody believes he's Jason Heyward, but the Sox don't have anyone better to replace him at the moment, so they may as well see if he can improve.

Two thoughts...

Gavin Floyd is a mediocre (at best) pitcher.

The Sox offense doesn't remind you of the 27 Yankees or the 75 Reds does it?

I suspect Kittle is pretty close to the truth. This club is going to have trouble scoring runs. To many strikeouts, to many guys left on base (when they do get on base...)

It is what it is.

To me, Keppinger looks like he's on his way very quickly to the super-infield-sub role. He's making contact at the plate, but not really driving the ball. More disconcerting to me is his shaky defense at second. Tonight he pulled Paulie off the bag with a bad throw and almost bobbled a ball when he was covering first. Last night in the 8th, there were two balls that fell into short leftfield. The first ball fell in front of Rios, and Beckham probably would have made the out. The second ball that fell behind Konerko, Beckham would have at least been in the television. Tonight, I saw a handful of balls that seemed to be out of his range.

The way Gillaspie is hitting the ball now, I see him as being a good fit at third. Hopefully Beckham comes back sooner rather than later.

The Nationals are a good team. Floyd was good first time through the order, but that's not enough. I just hope the Sox can find a way to win tomorrow.

One poster said Heyward and Viciedo were basically the same player.

Sox are now 6 for 45 with RISP this season.

Pretty good story talking about Floyd in his six years with the Sox, the entire gamut was on display tonight:

I was talking with a friend tonight about Floyd and I thought the response was pretty spot on, "he'll break your heart..."
