Default ***Official*** Nat Tonight 4-9 Postgame Thread

I've been here long enough, I can start one post game thread. Not enough lumber for the Sox tonight.

BTW, any of us who think that Hawks is too much of a homer need to endure the clowns that do the Nats home broadcast.

Listening to F.P Santangelo is like having John Gruden broadcast your games. It was raining superlatives.

If the bullpen doesn't implode we win, simple as that. It is nice to see a little offense though. Gives me hope for at least one of the next 2 games.

Left too many men on base, and Viciedo is starting to remind me of Juan Uribe and his stupid hacks.

Pitching wasn't sharp tonight. Peavy had his moments but gave up to many home runs. Bullpen allowed a few more runs otherwise the Sox could possibly have come back to win this one.

Thornton not sharp again tonight in my opinion.

1-10 with RISP....continues to be an issue.

Try again tomorrow.

Left Jake in about 3 batters too long. I know he's a competitor, but I pull him after the Werth HR.

LaRoche comes into the game hitless and leaves with 2 HR's.

We only left 6 on base (team-wise).

Hopefully Beckham isn't out too long.

expectations are low, but I am happy that the White Sox are playing decent baseball to start.

Greatest Arsenal goal I have ever witnessed. Chills to this day watching it.

Five of the first seven games the Sox have played have been decided by one run. I assume that pace won't continue for much longer.

And the two highest scoring games they've had this year (seven runs), they lost both. Baseball is a funny game sometimes.

Hate losing, but I do like the way the offense doesn't quit.

Alex Rios. I guess he decided to be good two year in a row!

Never gets old listening to Hawk emote about Denard Span though.

Brian:

Since 2008 Span is now hitting over .320 against the Sox.

-----------------------------------

Also forgot to mention another concern, not only the RISP factor but the club is making errors at a bad, bad pace. 8th error tonight in seven games. Maybe it was the cold the first week but this was a very good defensive team last season...not so much right now.

Veals pick off and DeAza's base running blunder didnt help. A team cant make these kind of mistakes against good teams.

Ouch.

Hopefully the offense keeps doing what it's been doing. Hurts to lose a game where you score 7 runs.

I see that Robin Ventura hasn't learned his Matt Thornton lesson from 2012.

If we're going to earn a playoff berth it's not going to be by much. Thornton should not pitch in any game that's still close. We had a shot at rallying in the ninth with the top of the order coming up. You do not bring in Thornton down two in the bottom of the eighth. You just don't do it. If you think bringing in Thornton is the thing to do in that situation, then we have a problem. And I think we have a problem. Thornton lost 10 games out of the bullpen last year. It's like Ventura never saw that happen.

It's time to stop the Thornton nonsense now. His pitches don't move and he doesn't change speeds. He's going to continue to get hit.
