Default Happy Opening Day!...

To every Sox fan and member of WSI.

May the team have a good, safe season (ditto for the fans...) May the players play to the best of their abilities and may the baseball gods smile down upon them.

At worst let them win more games then they lose when all is said and done.

Enjoy the season everybody.

Lip

Strange feeling about this team, would not surprise me if they win 86 games but then again it would not surprise me if they lose 86 games. Here's hoping for the best.

I'm cautiously optimistic. We have the pitching and the talent to reach the playoffs, but we need a lot of things to break right.

One line had our season win total at 81 games. I think we'll finish above that .500 mark. The question is whether we can win 90. I think Floyd is the player who can most make or break us.

I'm ready for baseball.

I think 80 wins would be a major accomplishment with this offense.

Rios probably goes down a bit. Flowers probably has a tough time matching AJ last year, but if Konerko stays healthy, and Dunn can hit .220, and either Ramirez or Beckham improve, considering the Sox got a .600 OPS out of 3B, and still were 4th in the AL in runs, even more than the Tigers, the offense should be fine.

It's cliched, but hope springs eternal on opening day. There's nothing to confirm your worst fears or temper your (however high or low) expectations.

Default Don't Worry, Be Happy!

I have to admit, I'm worried about the future of John Danks. If he comes back the White Sox will win a Playoff spot by Labor Day. If he doesn't come back, the White Sox will still get into the 2013 Playoffs. So, Don't Worry, Be Happy. 2013 is going to be a wonderful season on the Great Southside Of Chicago.

The bench is very weak. Already Boston and Tampa have lost their DH for 6 weeks. What happens when the White Sox lose a starter for 6 weeks? Say Rios or Dunn or Paulie. The offense has some weak spots w the projected starters. If a bench player has to play for an extended time, I think the offense is in trouble.
To your point I think Beckham or Ramirez improves but DeAza may go the opposite way and i think Flowers is a .220 hitter.

I heard it in the Parking Lot on Opening Day 2006: "Opening Day, Christmas, and my Birthday...in that order." Too true.

Once again, I hope for the Sox to be in the hunt till at least labor day. The summertime without meaningful Sox games are not good summers.

So very true. Summer of 07 and 11 were bleak. Last season was phenomenal until the collapse.

They say pitching and defense wins games. Lets hope so.

Here's to a fantastic season and hopefully postseason

86 games could be enough to win the AL Central.

Looking forward to a great season of baseball on the South Side as I will be attending my 27th straight home opener tomorrow.

At the age of 41 and following the White Sox for the last 30, I'm finally admitting something I should have long ago - any predicitions I make or feelings I have about the team are usually wrong. After last years 13-17 start I wanted Kenny Williams head on a plate and was sure this organization was staring at a multi-year stretch of sub. 500 ball. A couple months later I was as confidant as I ever was that that squad could legitimately win a World Series. A few weeks later, well you know the rest...

This year, I'm happy baseball is back and I hope to steer clear of any overreactions in the first few months.

Although If we don't win tomorrow .........
