I'ts amazing the way the sod looks with the miserable cold winter and lack of sun we have had. Kudos to the Sod Father and crew.

My lawn right now looks yellow.

If you think those look generic, look back at the retired numbers on the Walls of Comskey Park in the late 80s. That was a bad look.

I do hope the revenue the get from selling ads is major, as I liked the uniqueness of having the players pics on our walls.

Outfield ads don't bother me though. To me it looks like it harkens back to the pics you see from the 30s and 40s where the ads were all over MLB. I always wonder when and why that was fazed out over MLB just to be revived in the 90s.

I always thought the outfield picture/mural things were kind of awkward and creepy looking. Oh well. Different strokes I guess.

Finally.. it appears... The PINWHEEL STICKERS ARE GONE!!
Either that or they finally just bleached themselves to the point they just sort of flaked off of the facade.

Hate to see the outfield murals gone, but if it pumps more revenue into the team with ads, I'm all for it. Still, I loved seeing those.

30s & 40s? The Cubune was advertising at Cubs Park during their (and our) first World Series.

I'm glad the outfield murals are gone. Was never a big fan of them.

It's hard to believe that The Cell is now the 9th oldest ballpark in the league and that two-thirds of the teams have newer ballparks. I remember when Comiskey II was the new kid on the block.

I finally learned how Bossard does this. He mentioned it in an article a couple of weeks ago. He turns on the sprinklers (because the city water is actually warmer than the ground in late March) and then coats the entire outfield with a thin layer of activated charcoal. After this, he puts tarps over the grass. All three of these things help heat up the ground and bring the dormant grass back to life.

With all the extensive changes the Cell has gone thru over the years, the stadium does not show its age.
