Default Nice Peavy column

Backhand slap at Nick Swisher.

Swisher's act must be annoying to his teammates but Peavy's record with the White Sox is 28-25. Maybe Peavy should be focusing on something more important.

Yup. Those 1-0 and 2-1 losses last year are all his fault.

He was screwed a lot last year in games he pitched. He lost a couple 1-0 and 2-1 games. I want to say that he was one of the worst pitchers getting run support last year.

One run losses for Peavy last year:

April 28, 1-0 Red Sox
June 13, 1-0 Cards
June 19, 2-1 Cubs.

As others have noted, looking at W/L to determine a pitchers success is just moronic. Peavy is 28-25 with a 4.07 ERA career for the White Sox. His WHIP has been really good and he is running out almost a 4:1 k:bb ratio. It is not his fault the Sox have never been any better than average since he has been there.

Exactly. The difference in ERA between him and Sale is about a half a run, and Peavy pitched about 30 more innings.

Peavy didn't say it, Morrissey did.

You guys are right. Jake's win total doesn't tell the whole picture. Jake's been injured...a lot. And for some reason Jake doesn't seem to get run support when he does pitch well which is odd.

Of course Jake's been paid $59,000,000 from the White Sox in his 4 years and is set to make $14,500,000 this year and I guess all I'm asking is for Jake to be known more for pitching that being injured or commenting on former Sox players.

He hasn't said a word about any former players. Well, as far as I know anyway

Exactly. Swisher was only here in '08. Peavy didn't arrive until '09 so I don't think he has an opinion of Nick as a teammate.

Some nice quotes here from Jake but the Swisher stuff is just filler until something of note happens in Glendale.
