I would think Tuesday at the latest. Look for Beckham to be added now that he signed for 1 year 2.9 million

So is all the waiting in line as big of a pain in the ass as I assume it is?

Its not terrible. Since you typically line up awhile before the player even arrives you can bring a chair and do whatever you want. If you are with someone else you can take turns holding your spots in line. (provided you have your wristband) I often leave the line to eat, use the bathroom or shop. If you stay in line you have to remember that your attending a convention with die hard sox fans so you have plenty to talk about with like minded folks.

Saturday morning is usually the worst line, I've got up at 3am to get autographs.

Given that Stan Musial's Funeral Mass is on Saturday in St. Louis, will Tony LaRussa have to cancel his SoxFest plans?

LaRussa is not on the Soxfest schedule Saturday, only Friday and Sunday.

SoxFest radio and TV schedule has been announced.

Something I hadn't caught in the other announcements is the Friday evening seminar on "First Game Memories" led by Chuck Garfien. The panelists are scheduled to be Gordon Beckham, Bill Melton, Tom Paciorek, Aaron Rowand, and Pete Ward. Ward is a blast from my past -- he had a couple of solid years when I was a kid. It'll be good to see him.

LaRussa is getting an award Sunday night from the Pitch N Hit Club, he is still scheduled to attend. Maybe Friday is in jeopardy at Soxfest.

Pete Ward - I can' t resist a trip down memory lane.

The first ballpayer I ever met was Pete Ward as a 7 year old kid in 1969. He was great with us kids then and he still is an absolute gentlemen when I have met him at cards shows, etc. Pete and Luis Aparicio showed up on a summer afternoon at the Imperial Gardens store at 86th & Pulaski in Chicago. The word just spread through the neighborhood that there were some White Sox players giving out baseballs at the store. Pete joked around with us, handed out autgraphed baseballs to all of us kids, etc. I remember Luis didnt say a word and was very reserved - it didn't dawn on me until several years later that Luis probably struggled with English. I also remember once the payers signed the baseballs with bright green ink we immediately went out and played catch with them; we were more happy to have a new ball to play "running bases" or "off the wall" than to have a piece of memorabilia. Simpler times.

I'm kicking around the idea of going on Sunday. I haven't been in years, based on the schedule/wristband set up what time should I try to line up for Robin Ventura who is at 9am and Joe Crede who is at 1:30pm?
Thanks!

Well Pete had a memorable "first game" that's for sure:

April 9, 1963 - The start of the season found the Sox in Detroit and it was a highlight game for 3rd baseman Pete Ward. Ward smacked a 7th inning, three run home run off Jim Bunning to push the Sox into the lead and he also made a barehanded pick up and throw out of a slow roller hit by Al Kaline. The Sox would win 7-5 and it would be the start of Ward’s Co-American League Rookie of the Year campaign.

I haven't stuck around for Sunday the last couple of years, but I know that it is not nearly as well attended as Saturday (common sense I suppose). I could be wrong, but you will likely want to be in the front half of the line for Ventura so you can head over and grab a band for Crede as soon as you are finished. Depending on the demand for the particular player (and the line) they may begin handing out bracelets sooner than later. Saturdays are always a disaster when it comes to this and people start lining up for 1 and 2 o'clock signings as soon as the doors open.

Okay, it's after 4:00 an CSN isn't carrying the SoxFest opening ceremonies like they said they would. What's going on?
