I for one will miss aj. The guy was a gamer and played hard. I loved his honesty when asked questions, and know that it caused problems sometimes. I like those problems, it gets it out rather than fester and be worse. He'll always be one of my fav sox catchers. The memories of just always playing the game hard are what I like. Was he the greatest defensive or offensive catcher? No. But his quick wits and intelligence on the field were amazing. He'll make a great manager for sure.
That being said, his age meant it was time to move on. It catches up with you. He's right about the girlfriends not being on the road. He's right that gets do deserve a little more privileges due to not needing as many reps nor able to handle it with a 162 game schedule. Time to move on, but thanks for the for the great ride. And if someone wants to say chi-town, who cares? It's a little nuts to pick that as a critique. And as for peavy, I'd take 8 aj's over 1 peavy any day.

Thanks for bringing some stability to the catching position and getting the pitchers to click on that 2005 team. Also provided some of the best moments from that season. AJ was responsible for a lot of the best moments in his time with the Sox.

You'll go down as one of the most important players in White Sox history, AJ. Thanks for everything. You will be missed.
I hope you return to the White Sox organization soon. Until then, best of luck and success with the Rangers. |

A.J.'s final error: The period belongs inside the quotation marks.

Yeah. I hate when people do that.

I do it all the time. I can never remember whether it belongs inside or outside the quotation marks.

![]() I do it all the time. It's one of the grammar rules that I have trouble with. The problem for me is that putting the quote after the period just feels counter-intuitive to me.

Does anyone have a higher-res copy of this image? I've been looking for it for what seems like forever....

Does the period really belong inside the quotations in this instance? He's using the quotes as a standard saying of the city of Chicago, he's not officially saying it as a quote. Doesn't that mean the period would then come after the quotations?

Punctuation goes inside quotation marks. Why is that so hard to remember or apply?
In this situation, there is no reason at all for the period to be there.

Great job by the media to promote these stories to the point now it seems obligatory that any athlete take out a full page ad in a local paper to say good-bye after signing a deal for megabucks to go play somewhere else. Way to keep those ad dollars coming in, boys!!!

It's O.K. AJ was just applying standard British grammar, as it makes more sense than what we do here in the U.S.
