Default Zack Greinke in Dodger blue?

Dylan Hernadez
Source: Dodgers closing in on a six-year, $145-million deal with Zack Greinke.

The deal between the Dodgers and Greinke isn't done.

Default Greinke to sign with Dodgers

Per MLBTR, LA Times

6 years, $145 Million. He'll do well in Dodger Stadium.

Expected. Would the Sox consider a deal with the Angels involving Floyd?

Second largest contract for a pitcher in league history.

I bet the Sox will consider a lot of deals with Floyd with a number of teams. I wonder if such a deal won't come until later in the offseason, however, when the market for SPs settles a bit.

As for Greinke, he seems like a good fit in Dodger Stadium behind Kershaw.

Dodgers could take the Highest payroll title away from the yankees, who have had it since 98, IIRC. Those guys just can't get rid of that TV cash fast enough.

Imagine what this deal does for guys like King Felix, Verlander, and Kershaw who are far superior IMO.

It's nice to see the national league teams have to deal with a 'Yankee' team for once. I wonder who will play the part of the Red Sox and try to keep up with them.

Yeah - I like Greinke, but the size of this deal has me scratching my head a bit.

Jim Bowden
According to a Dodger source:Greinke has a full player opt out clause after 3 yrs & if traded during contract he can opt out at end of yr

Dodgers planning for the Press Conference to introduce Greinke for TUESDAY (after he passes physical of course)

If Greinke opts out of contract after 3 years...he will have made $76 million...and has his option to reenter the market at age 32

Greinke deal: $12m sign bonus $17m, $24m, $23m, $24m, $23m, $24m; full player opt out after 3yrs; if player traded can opt out at end of yr

no matter what happens with Ryu & dodgers today at deadline, dont be surprised if dodgers pursue anibal or lohse, too.

dodgers will consider a ss or 3b. don't appear in on Youk. at the moment, anyway. (but dont rule out anything for LAD)

That's an average for $24.1M per year.
  • That's over $30K per regular season out if he stays healthy all six years of that deal.
  • $8K per pitch for an average inning?
And he isn't even Hall of Fame material. Insane.
