Default Josh Hamilton likely to go elsewhere in '13

http://espn.go.com/dallas/mlb/story/...rs-report-says

The Rangers are only offering him a 3-year deal. It's extremely likely he will get a longer contract than that on the market.

I got 5-1 odds that the Tigers will offer him a ridiculous contract.

Frank Thomas, Hall of Famer. I love the sound of that.

Good lord, I hope the Tigers don't. If they sign him, that'll make that lineup of theirs even scarier. With Martinez coming back that already looks to be a murder's row, yowza.

Not that Hamilton wouldn't help their lineup, but their team is heavily dependent on left-handed power (Howard, Utley), perhaps too much so for their own good. I'm not sure adding Hamilton makes sense, even though he'd fare well in CBP.

I could see the Orioles making a run. It would be a good move for them IMO.

I think they would be a great fit. But they need pitching even more.

I would too, but not for the price he's looking for.

I'd do four years for $25 million, with the fourth year being a team option.

You're quite generous. He turned down $13.3 million for one year!

$25 million per year, or total? If the latter, his agent would start laughing and then hang up the phone.

I have a secondary rooting interest in the Washington Nationals, and I hope they get him. They need a left-handed power bat to replace Adam LaRoche.

$25 million per year. I would rather do a short contract and pay a lot. He gets market value, and the team doesn't have a net loss long-term if he bottoms out.

If he plays 135 games, he'll put up a good line and will sell merchandise.
